Civil War Weapon Demonstration

Plans are underway to observe the 154th anniversary of the Battle of Helena which was fought on July 4, 1863. The observance will take place on July 4 at Fort Curtis, 350 Columbia St., from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Civil War reenactors from the 1st Michigan Battery G Light Artillery and the Seven Generals Camp No. 135 of Helena-West Helena will demonstrate the use of small arms and cannons. The public can also visit with the reenactors to learn about camp life during the Civil War.

This will be a great family event that is free and open to the public.

The DCC Depot and Visitors Center will also be open for visitors from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Visitors are reminded of the Civil War exhibit on the upper floor at the Depot.
