Plan Your Visit

The Delta Cultural Center is open Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. The museum is also open on national Monday holidays throughout the year. The museum is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

Admission to the Delta Cultural Center is free.

The role of Helena-West Helena, Arkansas, in the emergence of the blues and the other roots music sounds of the Delta is explored and detailed at the Delta Cultural Center. The museum's acclaimed "Delta Sounds" permanent exhibit highlights the multitude of legendary performers whose lives were molded by life in the region. The held-over "Helena, Arkansas: Main Street of the Blues" exhibit sets the scene, when blues giants like Robert Johnson, Sonny Boy Williamson, Robert Nighthawk, Roosevelt Sykes, Robert Junior Lockwood, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, and so many more prowled the "wild and wide open little town."

And each weekday, the Delta Cultural Center is pleased to continue the living history that is "King Biscuit Time," the legendary KFFA-AM radio program that began in 1941. "Sunshine" Sonny Payne broadcasts the Peabody-winning show Monday through Friday from the Delta Cultural Center Visitors Center, welcoming many of today's musical champions, as well as visitors from around the world.

Helena-West Helena also hosts incredible music festivals during the year from the DCC's Arkansas Delta Family Gospel Festival and Mother's Best Music Fest to the Wild Hog Music Festival & Bike Rally and the Arkansas Blues & Heritage Festival. Tourist flock to the city to watch performances from a spot on the Mississippi River levee, sample foods from the fine eateries, and just take a walk down historic Cherry Street to hear the echoes of sounds past and present.

Located on Highway 49 near its crossroads with Highway 61, Helena is a natural stop on the Blues Highway, welcoming travelers fresh from Beale Street and Graceland in Memphis, the casinos of Tunica, the juke joints of Clarksdale, the Old South memories of Oxford, the Arkansas Entertainers Hall of Fame in Pine Bluff, or the many attractions of Arkansas's Capital in Little Rock.
